Sure, but if chaos in the markets reigns, people turn to gold, especially if the Fed does and about face and turns dovish to calm the markets. So one possible scenario is this....Dems & Mueller unleash hell on Trump in 2019, maybe leading to impeachment => markets get real volatile on the uncertainty => Fed calms markets by turning dovish => cash and short dated bonds are king with gold also being a haven.

I'll be an even bigger believer in gold, if the Fed turns so dovish as to stop or reverse QT. If that happens, I'd deploy some more cash increase my SPY holdings further as well.
