What do you think of Bob's recommendation to get out of the science & technology fund? I'm still an owner of the fund and I hate to sell it now, at the bottom of the recent technology bear market.

He said, in so many words, on another underperforming fund that he prefers to be in a fund that has a history of doing better. I haven't moved my $ yet, but I was thinking of putting it into TRP Europe...
I'm sort of hoping for a US bounce up before Europe bounces back but maybe I'm getting too fancy with small portions of my portfolio? My impression is once Bob makes his mind up to move, you do it NOW if you wish to follow his advice.

My only contrary opinion might be for fund style diversity. For example, momentum funds have done really poorly the last 2 yrs but I sometimes wonder if you should have some in a balanced portfolio? As I ponder this and my navel lint, I watch my PBHG Growth shares flounder ....but my other choices are pretty boreing as it is 401K money.

There is alot to be said for just having a few, high performance funds that you sell on a dime when their performance lags. It sure would seem that you could eventually stop sending in $185/yr and just buy VTSMX, VWIGX and the European Index and listen to the show for relative weightings. Plenty of time to work on a golf swing this way. 8)

Based on Bob's description of the outlook for drug stocks for the next few years, I'm seriously considering moving funds in the TRP S&T Fund over to the Health Sciences Fund.

Today's show was very informative along a number of fronts. His observation about Japan was certainly unexpected. It brings up a number of questions - what is magic about a triple bottom? After all it did a double bottom quite a while ago. Is the third one a charm? Has Bob really taken up technical analysis? If we look for triple bottoms, does this mean we need another test of the US 7400 low?

If the conditions about the bottom are met - it holds and then rises decisively - how should we invest in Japan? Or would it be better to invest in the ongoing US bull. US fundementals still seem much better.

I2: Thank you. On that question concerning the science and technology
fund, I perforce defer to the good folks here. I do not own that fund.
