I recently sent an e-mail to Anthony E. Peacock at VASO.
The comparison sent to VASO was from this thread.
Please advise any comments.

Dear Tony,
I am researching EECP for my father who is a candidate for treatment. I have received a video tape from your competitor, Cardiomedics, and at this point believe their equipment has superior features and maybe of higher quality. Below is a comparison (not sure of author):

Dear Mr. McKenna,

Thank you for your questions and the comparison sheet that you sent. We have seen this comparison before and should point out to you that most of the items compared are either clincally irrelevant or just incorrect. What is most important is the reliability of the system in delivering meaningful levels of counterpulsation .Even though the equipment is important, this goes beyond equipment to the skill of the operator and the care the patient receives overall. EECP is a clinically proven and fully documented procedure. The emulator is not. If you ask to see published clinical (with patients) studies you will be shown our data as they do not have any.

Depending on your location, I recommend that you consult a university
center such as Columbia Presbyterian in NYC, Beth Israel Deaconess at
Harvard (Boston) or any of the 8 first rate university centers with EECP research experience. EECP is available at more than 30 centers throughout the country.

AEP

Note: Cardiomedics has informed me of trials occuring soon at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Boston, I am going to try and get my father enrolled. St. Eliz's is a world class hospital with a Cath lab and Cardio. surgery available in case of an emergency.

VASO recently sold their equipment and trained a small Health center outside Boston (no cath lab or surgery avail)and they have not performed therapy on any patients at this time. They are still working the issue of getting insurance companies to approve the cost (~$8,000). The approach is to have your Caridologist or Primary Care Physican simply prescripe EECP.
