Then you better not use the drive as a paper clip holder. <g>

Seriously, my Compaq 4784 has the round eject button and the square light (on the right) but no "paper clip eject."

It should be noted, however, that it automaticly ejects the Zip disk before shuttting down.

i would think that it is cheaper to combine the button and light.

Seems to be keeping with the plan of offsetting price reductions by lowering cost. Good observation.

The Gateway drive is the ATAPI drive and is indeed much lower cost. The Dell drives are still the IDE drives. OEMs are slow to change.
