Quite possibly. They're spending a lot of money trying to make people think it's not happening.They want to extract and sell all their carbon reserves first.

I see it as an existential threat, so why stop with spare funds? The entire country can't be carbon-free in 10 years, like the kids want, but the federal government itself, with the exception of aircraft, should be able to do it with money already in their budgets. For example, it should be EZ to cover all federal parking lots with panels, and buy or lease EVs instead of ICE's.

Zero population growth would be nice. I suspect nature will eventually limit us.
