I have a good buddy that is in wealth management....it's amazing how people that can amass quite a substantial amount of money in business will then turn it over to a money manager that frankly does an extremely average job for them, at a very steep price.

I don't let on how much I know about investing, and when I see what he does for people, it's a joke. But, people eat it up, they like him, and he makes a GREAT income!

Agreed.... absolutely... and in my brother's case he does not mind spending money to have others do all sorts of things for him... he likes spending money... I've offered to manage his money for the same fee structure... <ggg>... and for those who both don't have the time or inclination to learn and also can't afford to pay someone else, there's always the index funds route, too... but folks in that case tend to also fall into the trap of having to sell stock to generate income in retirement because their divvy stream does not replace enough of their income and/or too little invested to generate sufficient income to replace in retirement... I read that half of the people my age don't have any retirement savings -- they are screwed for the rest of their lives.
