In a General Election the vast majority of those willing to actually vote do so by the Political Party they are registered.
Republicans Voted for Trump
Democrats Voted for Hillary.

The slim difference in the outcome was mainly the bi product of the standard deviation that always exists in an election. The only real discernible argument is the resultant factor of the Electoral College that incidentally has decided the last two Republican elected Presidents.

Today, for Republicans, the Electoral College is the key to their success or not.
