Not saying this is the answer, but an example of searching for better rule: perhaps the penalty would be sliding scale say if posted after 1st game begun, lose 7 and adjust others accordingly... or miss all they way to 2nd game kickoff penalty is 7+5 and rest of games adjusted down to 3 and 1... I suppose if first three games late would mean one could still pick up one pt. at least.
