Yes, I told myself that the hybrid PF I personally have might resemble these barbells you guys were talking about, but one end (DGI) is way bigger than the other (current income), and my wife's is about 90% DGI with just a couple REITs in the high yielding space.

Most of my Divvy Aristocrats were bought in the 2006-20012 time frame and 80% of those during and after '08-'09 so I am not complaining at all on prices... I'm not seeing any in my accts. that I feel were over-priced... there are 6 or so (out of 40) in my wife's accts that were probably a bit expensively priced, but it drove me crazy seeing so much cash sitting out one of the best years in my life for cap gains, let alone divvy yields.

Depending, I've been known to take a year or so to build up a position, or in 2-3 cases, all at once.... depends on the day it was, etc.

Your plan sounds as good as most here -- plus it suits you, your interests and your background, which is never a bad thing.

Make a plan.
Work the plan.
Tweak as necessary.

Many have no plan or ignore the plan they have and just bounce around like a pinball from one shiny thing to the next.
