yes, that is the comparison most often made. however, pot destroys your short term memory and your motivation. I've seen it first hand. I'm not saying that a healthy person who every once in awhile partakes of alcohol or pot will have any problems, but easy access by kids is very problematic. Mentally healthy people simply don't feel the need to anesthetize themselves to life's wonders. Right now, we have way too many mentally unhealthy people in this country. Perpetual victim mentality makes people think the world is against them and there's no way out of their bad situation. no wonder they want to anesthetize.
