This is a repost:
The fact that Japan has been in a prolonged Bear Market despite falling interest rates IS disturbing. But I think they have been in an exceptional financial climate with their Banking system in trouble (like the US in the 80's but much worse) and the bubble bursting in their real estate market. These deflationary pressures have been overwhelming their inadequate stimulation from monetary easing. We (the U.S. economy) are in a very different financial environment, still amenable to the increased growth that falling interest rates allows.
