Carl,
<<It looks to me like institutions are starting to sell off.>>
I would be curious as to the basis of your statement. If the institutions were starting to sell off I think we would see much heavier volume accompanied by a continued downtrend in the price. The stock closed down on Friday on volume of 2.5M shares. I think that when the institutions are involved we will see volume in excess of 10M per day.. Certainly we would have seen the price down for the week when it fact it was actually up . IMHO this is just the typical price movement of this stock. Also remember there are alot of nervous investors out there right now and the market is very volatile. But from a safety perspective assuming you want to be invested in technology, this (to me at least) represents one of the least riskier investments out there in today's market.
Melissa

I also see insider selling still happening too ! Not a good sign !
Don't quite understand it since I have seen numerous analysts touting this stock as a Year 2000 play. Stong sales in the future leading up to 2000, because of companies wnating to get of their legacy mainframe non-Y2K compliant systems.

What signs do you see indicating that institutions are starting to unload the stock? If I remember correctly, PSFT had a fairly low institutional ownership (35%?) to begin with (as of last summer, at least).
