Jesus is God and not just a man.
John 1:1-5 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being by Him; and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4 In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness; and the darkness did not comprehend it.
John 5:18-24 18 For this cause therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He was not only breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God. 19 Jesus therefore answered and was saying to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also doesin like manner 20 "For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing; and greater works than these will He show Him, that you may marvel. 21 "For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom He wishes. 22 For not even the father judges anyone, but He has given all judgement to the Son, 23 in order that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. 24 Truly, truly, I say to yo, he who hears my word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgement, but has passed out of death into life."
Phil. 2:5-11 5 Have this attitude in yourself which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God also highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, 11 and that every tounge should confess that Jesus is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
I Tim. 1:17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen
Colossians 2:8-12 8 See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ. 9 For in Him all the fulness of Deity dwells in bodily form, 10 and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority; 11 and in Him you were all circumcised with a circumsicion made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumsicion of Christ; 12 having been buried in Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. |
