The whole concept of your company (that I liked so much) was that I could write
an application and deploy it world wide in the time it took ftp to run. Didn't have to
"really" worry about what OS machine the user had. Didn't have to "install" it
anywhere.

Well, the "write-once-run-anywhere", platform-independent concept is much easier said than done. It will take a while for this to come true.
