Patching the Holidays.DAT file or GET.HOL file:

Al: Thanks for the nice comment! Sorry I haven't been contributing to this message board lately, but things have been hectic for me. Here's a small contribution to help keep your program running properly:

Wall Street pleasantly surprised us with an unexpected holiday. Unfortunately, this requires those of you who use Advanced GET to patch your Holidays.DAT file (for GET for Windows) and GET.HOL file (for GET DOS) to account for this unexpected holiday.

The procedure to patch the Holidays.DAT file is as follows:

1) Locate this file in your GET\DAT folder and double-click on it. Win95 should bring up the file in Notepad or Wordpad. Scroll down to the current year, and enter this unexpected holiday in the proper location in the same format as the other dates listed.

2) Save this file and exit.

The procedure to patch the GET.HOL file is the same, except that the file is located in the main GET6 folder or sub-directory, Windows will not recognize this file so you have to tell Windows to open it with Notepad, and the date format is slightly different than for Holidays.DAT (you'll notice that Holidays.DAT is properly accounting for the Year 2000 problem).
