I appreciate you clarifying. I had no plans to use if for anything. The market monitor screen I watch during market hours has the TRIN. It was always heavily positive on strong down days. I just wondered what it was. I do appreciate the additional clarification.

5speed, thanks for further clarification and the reference source for TRIN. I see it used most often as another indicator to look at for confirmation of overall market trend. It has been bugging me because until now I had not received a good explanation of TRIN. When is it most effective for you?

This is good information about TRIN. For the reasons stated, you should also plot TRIN on a semi-log scale. You can see this for both the NYSE and the NASDAQ on the "Market Internals" page at coolhistory.com
