I share this confusion.

If he is basing his earnings downgrade on the failure of the contract to come off last quarter, he could have revised his estimate when no NEC/IDX announcement came by the end of last December, rather than when a contract was announced in the press. So let's assume he has some undisclosed idea that he's masking with this rather unconvincing analysis.

Hal,...and anyone else,

I need to be careful with this post.

You may think that Kessler talks to Fowler daily and knows exactly what contracts are where.....what will be coming up.....and so on.

You may think that he concentrates on the future potential and works hard to formulate a vision of the future and a value for that vision.

You may think that Kessler really gets into the stock and is not swayed by what the other analysts are saying or estimating.

You may think that he has no problem being a penny or two shy on his earnings estimates...every bloody quarter.

Well......If you think these things.....you may be wrong. You may find that Kessler covers many, many stocks, also finds Identix is a very closed-lipped company.......and may not be the super Identix know everything expert that we believe that he is.....and we should not expect him to be. Having Marc Usum from Salomon on board with very deep research really helps......It will take some of the load off of Kessler.

It is clear that the real exploding growth will come from Bio-ID.......and service fingerprinting (Sylvan).......It will build over the next few years. In the meantime, it is nice to be doing very well in the law-enforcement area.......and growing as others are shrinking. It is estimated that only 10% of all police departments are equiped for live-scan. That fact should bring a smile to IDX shareholders...as NEC has a kick-butt afis ...and we make the input machines.

It is very nice to read John Parcelle's comments from down under. These are the things we have been looking for.......The IDX/Oracle relationship will be everything investors have believed it could be......Just may take a little time.

Watch IDX be stuck away by very savy institutions......I think we may have been seeing some of this over the last couple of weeks. The base is being built at this level......and up may be the next direction.
