Radio waves have already done that. The first would have reached Alpha Centauri over 100 years ago.

We are undoubtedly a dangerous or at least a bothersome virus to other beings who exist on a completely plane than we do.

My own thought is that alien life and intelligence will be ALIEN, as in, beyond our experience. In the big picture, we're just a brief surface infection on a rocky planet with water. We look for aliens, thinking they'll be using RADIO! We look for world's like ours, because that's the only place we can imagine aliens to be.
