Radio waves have already done that. The first would have reached Alpha Centauri over 100 years ago.

My own thought is that alien life and intelligence will be ALIEN, as in, beyond our experience. In the big picture, we're just a brief surface infection on a rocky planet with water. We look for aliens, thinking they'll be using RADIO! We look for world's like ours, because that's the only place we can imagine aliens to be.
