The top tax rate should be risen to 90% not 70%... and the billionaires will not even lose a second sleep... and that will ONLY affect LESS THAN 1% OF AMERICANS. LESS THAN 1% of ALL AMERICANS... while the TAX RATES OF 99% of AMERICAN WILL GO DOWN FROM WHERE THEY ARE NOW...

And the republican POS tRump's TAX SCAM of 2018 SHOULD BE REPEALED to curtail the exploding deficit which is destroying the US economy and the country...

the brightest minds flocking to become Wall Street parasites instead of inventing the next Apple or Google. ...We don't need Wall Street to finance our world

Agree with you on this. You don't have H1B visas for finance guys like for engineers. If we turned that 180 the bright guys would go into engineering and engineers would be making the big bucks.

The Fed has much less influence on the monetary markets than in the past. There are plenty of liquidity sources elsewhere and that's why they can only raise the funds rate so much as buyers are going elsewhere.

Mindmeld,
I looked up Ocasio's main positions to see how ludicrous they are and actually agreed with a few of them, much to my surprise.
I'd trust her positions more if she had any clue as to the details. For example:
Bring back Glass-Steagall
I guarantee you that Alexandria Occasional-Cortex only supports this because "big banks bad, rich white bankers bad." She has no idea what Glass-Steagall was supposed to do in the first place, but then again, most people don't.

The basic cause of the past two recessions were burst bubbles. There is no proof that Glass-Steagall would have prevented the real estate bubble from inflating and bursting. Investors would have found other ways to inflate the bubble.
