Michael and Alexa,

I think one would have to believe that a smoking environment is more harmful to a child's health and well being than foster care. Shockingly (at least to me), some parents actually have lost custodial rights because of their smoking.

Alexa, what came across to me in our smoking debate of last week is that you want to go wherever you please, whenever you please, and not run any risk of being exposed to smoke. Don't you think this is a little unrealistic?

BTW, do you use your fireplace? Do you barbecue? I don't do either, and I don't burn incense, but this past holiday season, I felt nearly smothered by all the fireplaces in use in my neighborhood as people enjoyed that Norman Rockwell touch in their homes.

Holly

Of course I read your post. I wasn't being personal. But you did make that odd segue into property rights and parental rights. I like controversial topics but I worry some people may be more delicate than I. Defensive? Moi? I think not. I was, afterall, discussing the topic with Del, and you joined the discussion, which is fine with me. Children's rights have a great deal to do with parental rights, as the two are frequently in opposition. What is defensive about that? I figured you just failed to see the connection. Just because I never agree with you doesn't make it personal. And no, I don't think you are very rational in your arguments, but that is just my opinion (which I believe I have a right to.)
