Due to ongoing threats against his family from President Trump and Mr Giuliani, as recently as this weekend, as well as Mr Cohen's continued cooperation with ongoing investigations, by advice of counsel, Mr Cohen's appearance will be postponed to a later date," Cohen's lawyer Lanny Davis said in a statement. On CNN's "State of the Union," host Jake Tapper asked Giuliani how Trump's repeated calls for investigation into Cohen's family members ahead of Cohen's previously scheduled testimony did not amount to intimidating a witness or obstruction of Justice. "We are so distorting the system of justice just to get Donald Trump, it's going to hurt us so much and I'd hate to see something bad happen ," Giuliani responded. Giuliani continued his odd comments saying, "I don't know if Trump talked to Cohen or not. It may be attorney-client privilege if it happened, where I can't acknowledge it. But I have no knowledge that he spoke to him, but I'm telling you I wasn't there then." A source close to Cohen told CNBC News that Cohen's wife and father-in-law were particularly afraid about Cohen's upcoming scheduled appearance in Congress, and that they feel directly targeted by Trump. Cohen's wife Laura was afraid of going to the hearing in person because she believed she was at risk of being attacked. "The threats are real," the source says, "Trump knows what he's doing."
