yes bob g.

that is exactly what i want to do.. i want to use simple and easy-to-understand analysis/methods so that everyone can follow and learn..

i want people to learn how to read charts.. i dont want them to "ask, what do you think of XYZ?" i want to see themselves the beauty of the lines and deduct an analysis out of them..

bob g. I hope you know we got the best people on this thread.. hopefully gary, doug, you, GZ, everyone will help make this thread the best..

the potential to be #1 is there. how many threads have seen last this long? and still going strong? i'm determined and will never let you down.. i might still be here on this same thread 5 yrs from now..
<gg>

ok.. let's start Bob g... [sell stop placement]

you said "We can also talk about the practical aspects of trading the chart like where stops can be set "

geocities.com

(not current data, sunw on friday closed at 45 1/16 i believe)

let's start with this sunw chart... which was a nightmare because i got stoppped out and it kept on going.. i set my sell stop below the 21 day ma (yellow dotted) b/c by looking at past history, when sunw rallies, it never falls below 21 day ma...

well, low n' behold. last monday was the day with 13% decline in hk i believe.. so we opened below 21day ma and i got stopped out.

according to my charts, uptrend was intact and actually pretty strong..
so chances of sunw tanking on me against my signals were small.

questions to discuss:

1) where would you put your sell stop? I believe that sell stops were correctly placed in that it was below a good MA and below a support (not the static 5%, which i think is not too smart)

2) i'm beginning to revert back to mental sell stops again.. i used a hard sell stop on this play b/c i had class the whole day.

any ideas and comments? this sell stop business is real tricky.. i can point fingers all day long, but the end results is : i got stopped out on an 11% play in one week!

anyone : please feel free to post.
