Mohan:

<< I think at least the U.S have one thing going for them,ie.the most powerful nation on this here earth ,economically and otherwise ( I am sure some people may disagree).>> I do not disagree about the US hegemony. My position is that the herd mentality for holding US$ will shift dramatically and this will be healthy for the US as well as the rest of the world in a highly integrated global economy. Even then US will continue to be the economically the strongest on earth, although some have predicted that China is poised to take over that spot.

Even in economics, the best economic allocation of resources can be achieved under a benevolent dictator and so the communist concept is theoretically correct, though practically unachievable because a benevolent dictator is not easy to have. If the Chinese govt follows the role of a banevolent dictator (simply to survive), they might potentially achieve what the Soviet Union could not. Add Taiwan and Hong Kong to China (although the US would like to see Taiwan remain detached from China) and you can easiy see a potential economic power-house with a strong local economy.

While I tend to entertain the possibility of China taking over the first economic spot, it has not happened yet and so I would like to wait to make any judgement.

Mohan,

<<on this here earth>>

<<where the heck >>

<<still sitting pretty>>

Hehehe May I assume you have been in the U.S. for quite a long time? This is hardly the Queen's English. You have picked up the vernacular remarkably well and reading your posts remind me of my Oklahoma roots. May I call you Bubba?

Best,
Stitch
