js,

Chambers discussed this in his Comdex speech. The savings come from handling (or lack thereof), happier customers and sales people who manage accounts rather than simply process orders.

But it wasn't just sales - we point out that electronicly handled case work on support leverages our people significantly (actual percentages are unknown to me - but were mentioned by Chambers).

How do you figure? What are they using it for?
Best,

Sorry, I somehow forgot about replying.

Looks like it's just under $300,000,000, not over. (I read somewhere that the savings will be over $300,000,000 next year.) According to the article, the $$$$ are going into R&D.

The new strategy takes hold just as the
staggering success and bottom-line
benefits of CCO are beginning to sink in.
The site, which automates product
ordering and customer support
activities, is on track to save the
company a little less than $270 million
per year in operating expenses, which in
turn is being pumped back into research
and development.

That figure is "more than what other
companies spend on R&D all year," said
chief executive John Chambers.
