Liberals earn far more than conservative so we can afford to buy more expensive homes, cars and vacations. It's the natural order of things. Smart people earn a lot of money, either on their own or working for someone else. Smart people believe in the sciences, which is an essential prerequisite for managing and designing the modern world. When you're not too bright your horizons are more limited, but it comes with a certain type of freedom. Managers at Walmarts don't care whether you believe in climate science or even if you're hooked on oxycontin. A trailer in a swamp with an old pickup truck is all you need.
