Actually, you don't know the full picture. When you look at the full case law that built onto the Freedom of Speech, it absolutely supports and is supported by Congress to protect Freedom of Speech in any forum or publication that "constitutes a public square". In the digital age, that is Google, Facebook, and Twitter. We don't even need new laws from Congress. All it would take is the Supreme Court weighing in on cases that are already in its queue.

Now, unfortunately, Conservatives and Liberals alike will not support restraining companies like Google and Facebook from censoring free speech. Liberals won't support it, because they know damned well that it's only conservative voices being censored. Conservatives won't support it, because they want to limit any restraints on corporations' ability to make a profit. So lucky for you, we'll never get protections for Freedom of Speech. But for Americans as a whole and for the purposes of our future, this is a very negative thing and will have very serious consequences on not just free speech, but every other freedom we hold dear.
