Holly, about a month ago, I saw a very good movie delving into this area. It was called "First do no Harm". I think you would enjoy it immensely.

Bring allot of cleanex, it's a real tear jerker. It's all about the struggle of a small child and his family to use alternate treatments in fighting Epilepsy. Apparently based on a true incident.

The case of the 8-year-old with leukemia: taht's a tough one. I don't think there should be a legal presumption that so young a child is capable of making rational life-or-death decisions for himself. I'd say that the court should have the right to insist that medical treatment continue--IF it can be demonstrated that it's beneficial, or shows hope of eventual benefit--but I see no reason why a desperately sick child should be taken from his mother and thrust into a strange environment.
