You're parsing this too hard. He probably realizes his memory isn't perfect- but he's pretty sure he'd remember that if it were him. Unlike the Reptard Supreme Beer Lover, Northam says he didn't get blackout drunk and he thinks he'd remember that. I didn't find what he said that odd- for someone under such a huge attack for a picture that might not even be him.

This is a big 'who cares' unless you are a Virginian. Northam has been on the right side of many issues during his political career and just backed an agreement to make utility companies clean up their coal ash dumps, a major issue in many states. Retroactive political correctness is dicey. We'll see how the citizens of Virginia respond, I'd say this is their issue.
