Steve,

I was doing just that. I have a long term holding of AMAT which I will not touch since this stock is going up long term without a doubt. We're in a world were everything is going technologic --> cars, boats, toasters, toys, etc. and chips are going to be needed in ever increasing quantities. However, the market gyrations can make you some side money while you wait it out. I've traded in and out of AMAT 5 times in the last 6-7 weeks usually making 2 - 2.5 pts each time. My last trade is the only loser as I'm in at 31.75 cost basis. I should of sold about two weeks ago when it hit 33 and then got back in around 28 but it's hard to time this stock. I do have to spend more time monitoring AMAT but it's definitely been worth it. I would recommend to only use a small portion of your assets in this trading scheme, however. Just my two cents.
