Speaking as a life long history maven: Sociopathic character & personality have always been common where ever they can find highly concentrated power to wield over others. Ditto for leaders of mega corporations which are bureaucratic and often function like political entities. It also occurs in smaller businesses and political jurisdictions than nation states. Though some may disagree (which is fine because I don't get into arguments on SI), my wag is there're more sociopaths, even psychopaths, on the left who've always been willing to do almost anything to seize and cling to power.
