They were a sleeping dragon who have now awakened. The rise of women is not a flash in the pan, it is as fundamental as other major mile stones in the evolution of civilization. Humans settling down and raising crops and livestock around 15,000 years ago, development of a functional written language by the ancient Greeks and with it ideas of ethics and Republics/democracy, and deductive logic and the scientific method and of course Plato's Allegory of the Cave which I say made him the worlds first existentialist as he saw the illusions of life. As Will Durant said: " The ancient Greeks stood alone until modern times in their contemporary thought", and said: " while myths may change, reason remains the same, for all people, and all times, and makes brothers of its lovers". The ancient Greeks replaced myths with reason. So, the rise of women around the world is so profound that it will change our civilization forever, for the better. I have maintained for a long time that the 60's was a very profound cultural revolution because it was the first major existential movement in human history i.e. replacing old myths with new "humanitarian ideas of racial and gender equality and the right of all people to manifest their destiny. And so it is with the rise of women. It is important to remember that women have been subjugated by males and every society and religions for ALL of human history. There were no major exceptions. Only 100 years ago women could not vote or enter most universities to study things like physics, law and medicine. So they have only been emancipated since about the 60's as "higher order thinking" came to dominate societies instead of male hegemony. 2018 showed women have finally had enough time to shake off the brutality they had to endure for so long and with equal rights to education and work, have found their voice and will forever change the cultures of world to be more humanitarian and more intelligent. And in the US they are doing that through the Democratic party. It is notable that while there are now about 93 Democratic women in the house, counting territories, with huge gains made in 2018, there are only 13 Republican women in the house, their having lost 10 seats. The mostly white, mostly male, Republican party has made a huge mistake continuing to patronize and subjugate the women, and will rue the day as the women come together around the Democratic party to lead our country to a new humanitarian and intelligent future relegating the primitive Republican party ideology to the dust bin of history.
