Hello Bill,

PMFJI, but you asked:

OS-2 looked like it had the potential, but the usual IBM need to
screw you killed it at an early stage. Later when they tried to make
up for lost time it was too late. Do they still have any agreements
with MSFT?, or is there so much divergence now as not to matter.?

I'm not sure about agreements, but just like Netscape, IBM has realized that Java and CORBA are two standards to invest in. They have thousands of programmers around the world working on applications written to these technologies. And if they succeed in creating the applications, and customers realize the value, it will remove the dependencies on the OS ... you will finally be able to run apps on Windows if you want to!

I know that they are also a patent power-house. And they are on a kick to start collecting on their patent portfolio ... I just wonder what they have in there.
