I did a cross country ride with a gentleman from New Zealand who was a professional Merino sheep rancher. I didn't interact much with him for a spell because he was a bit of a hot dog. One evening I found my self across from him at dinner and I asked him if he used any dogs in his operation. He got misty-eyed and started talking about his Border Collie who could "do everything". Said he had an Australian Shepard that was close but this dog was the best one he ever owned. He said that she could herd 5000 sheep and all he had to do was open and close a gate now and then.
