No. Both lost spleens.Both recovered well and lived several more years. neither vets made the suggestion and I was about to change what I thought was the cause. Seemed as though all dogs developed the issue after high energy play where they often were standing on hind legs "fighting" with the other dog. I stopped the dogs from excessive play and have not had another event. Last time was about 10 years ago and have had 3 other dogs during that time frame.

I think if a new pup would come along and if I were to have a female spayed, I will consider the procedure then. I'm not a fan of anesthesia so if spayed, the time might be appropriate.
