Worswick, wow it's small world after all! What were you doing in Varkala in 50s? how was the place then? Even more rural and rustic I presume with lot of bullock-carts,horse buggies and such, and no roads probably, not that we have good roads now <gg>.

Where did you stay in Kochi during your last trip? I am buying a condo/apartment in Edappally near Kochi.Actually my sister's family lives near there. Our family house is around 75km from Ernakulam,it is a small village really.I have a also place in Trivandrum near the engineering college.

Yes,the Gulf influence in Kerala is very evident.A lot of people go there seeking employment and have brought a lot of wealth into the state. Most of the Keralites are in Dubai,Abu Dhabi,Oman,Bahrain,Qatar etc.I guess the close proximity of these countries makes the travel a bit easier.Kerala will soon have 3 international airports,a lot for a
small state mainly due to the Gulf influence, though none of the airports are of international standards except may be for the new one that is coming up in Kalamaserry.

Listen,if you guys come to Kerala sometime in 1999 or 2000, do look me up,I should, most likely, be there by then at least for the most part.
