Aww-Christine, you know me well enough to know that I never take absolute stands on anything publicly. I have always been personally opposed to abortion, but will not presume to know what's best for anyone else. When I turned 40 and Dan and I were trying for a third, my doctor advised us to think through the issue of amnio and abortion very carefully pre facto. I said, with great self-confidence, "Oh, I would never abort." and went home and started thinking about it and realized that not only was I not nearly as sure as I had always believed, but I most certainly do not want anyone else making that decision for me and my body and my life. I find it infuriating that other people believe they are more capable, more moral, more intelligent, more qualified than my husband and I, or anyone else, to make this decision.
So I guess my answer is that I don't have one I'm willing to foist upon other people as the ultimate truth for anyone besides myself and that the truth even for myself can change under different circumstances. But I want to make my own decisions about these issues-I don't want you or Holly or some pro-lifer making them for me. Life in general is so complex that simple declarations about what is or what should or should not be usually only end up polarizing and angering.
Did I manage to answer anything?

Sorry,

I'm sticking my nose in and I wasn't invited..but since I'm here...

I think whenever their is pain and/or suffering inflicted upon a human by another (which is preventable) it is wrong.

With that said...I have watched many discussions and read several articles regarding late term abortion (BTW..both sides of the topic were well represented in most cases.) One thing BOTH sides agreed upon was there has yet to be a case where the mother's life was at risk resulting in the late term abortion.

The process is more hideous than anything Hitler and his stooges could ever have dreamed of (and they did pleanty.) When a BABY reaches that point of developement their nervous system is very well developed along with most other functions. In fact, there is a good possibility they are even more acutely aware of sensation while still in the womb.

I find it ironic that some people who fought against the baby seals being "clubbed" to death (which I agree was wrong) have no problem in babies being "butchered."

As for abortion, in general, I do not agree with it. HOWEVER... I have never been faced with some of the things the women who make that decision have. I cannot judge them for what they did..with maybe the exception of those few who have had more than one as a result of poor judgement, etc.

I know you didn't ask what I think..but hey...some things just catch my eye...
