Thanks for posting that!
You're making me homesick.
I was supposed to be in NYC this week, but work got in the way of life :(

I went through those photos. It's amazing how little the city has changed. With a few notable exceptions (e.g. the WTC or Lincoln Center) everything else is pretty much as it was. I never realized how old Sparks really is. I lived across the street from it, only a few years after Paul Gambino was gunned down there.

The strange and rather unique thing about NYC is that some things change a lot and unexpectedly all the time. And yet somethings seem to stay the same forever.

The one major omission in the article is the High Line train track. It is now an above ground park/garden. It would have been nice to contrast the old with the new. On the other hand, the L-Train they talked about is pretty much the same as it was back then :-/

The Meat Packing district is another one they should have shown. It's still the same structure as it ever was, but now it is becoming a very hip neighborhood. So the contrast of having hip pubs and restaurants in the same crummy old buildings would be nice to see.

...Now I really miss New York ;(
