Davis definitely a good man. Ditto for Thomas Sowell, Jordan Peterson, and some others we could both add. Wish British polymath & Historian, Paul Johnson was younger and we could look forward for more of his gems in the years ahead. Reading another his books (pub 1988). Dazzling command and ability to present the vast material he researched for each of the 1/2 dozen books I've read. Johnson's a bona fide mental giant. Don't throw the word around, casually. But IMO? He's a genius. Future generations well come to recognize one of the greatest historians.

Thomas Sowell, 2nd. The late Jacques Barzun, 3rd, and on down the totem pole from there. Sincerely respect other folks here I know share my conservative views will have different lists or ranking of many of the same authors.
