Hi Fintas,

You cannot even put Netflix in the same sentence if you look at their balance sheets.

Semi's have scaled up and have a secure repeat business of selling AND REPAIRING CONSUMABLES with in their installed owner base.

Sometimes it can be half of the revenue for the quarter.

They've matured and have lesser cycles.

When 5G goes in (NOW) it will aid in new smartphones which most likely won't really happen till 2020.

Bob

I thought of those but usually come back to AMAT & LRCX are business models I understand more AND they have even more volatility.... so work well enough for me.
BUT have you even thought as I have OFTEN that DAMN.. Why didn't I just roll into NFLX/AMZN back then to sit and hold. I've often stated I loved them both but feared the target on their backs. EVEN so.. That would have been one sweet move for either of them.

I did Buy GOOGL on it's first big correction... and have a nice sized position now even as I traded it a bit around the core position to get on "house money" before buying shares on the last big decline late last year. Never get all the exact tops and bottoms, but anyone who says (some here on SI make it look like they call the futures to the penny... which should set "fraud alert" flags to proceed with caution.)

There are many ways to skin a cat and make money in the market. That is what makes posting on SI fun, as we can learn some of what others do.
IF I were holding AMAT off 30 I'd be thinking.. 42.74? 48.88? but how does it happen. TWT.

FWIW, I think those targets make sense and I plan to take some profits a bit before them... like to be at the front of the line in buyers run out of cash just as I like to buy before sellers run out of inventory.... another reason NOBODY calls the tops and bottoms, especially if they have any sized following (I've learned my subs get in front of my orders so sometimes the stocks run out of inventory just before I buy or run out of cash just before I sell.... hence another good reason to split orders around targets!)

Thanks again for sharing.
