Zeev: The TV coverage has them donating it, I don't find that hard
to accept South Koreans have a lot of National pride, and dedication
to their country. But distroying the artifacts, to melt it down
is like sinful. Yet this was the offical statment, true they need
money now..and would not get fair value , but at the least they
should mint a special coin in honor of thoes who made the donations, and surely that would at least bring a premium over
the raw price of gold. I'm upset to think that their gov would
give into pressures by the same people who caused the problems
and just dump the gold in their hands. If they can't find
some large Jewalers to take it on, heck I think Walmart and Sams
could handle the whole lot, but if not A special coin would
be nice, and help them out far better than just melting and
dumping it.

im from militigan and that may scue my views but does any one
else see the parallels between what the central bankers are
encouraging in s.k. and how"they"forced America into fractal
reserve and finally into a fully fiat system over the last 70
years? primarilaly the process of gathering priviate gold
reserves and issuing worthless(intrensicly)debt instruments
in their stead?

Zeev,

<< are they donating this gold or simply exchanging it for won so as to improve the hard currency (or gold) position in Korea?>>

The redeemers of gold are getting credits in dollar denominted savings accounts. The whole idea is to increase dollar bank holdings.

Best,
Stitch
