>>>>RE:"The people you don't seem to understand (engineers)..." I are one.<<< You still don't seem to understand us. Maybe you are just a little cranky. Is your specialty software? >>> RE: "Meanwhile, the company you love best, and the right wing in congress, are the new best friends of Chinese-style communism." China is a huge market approximately 900,000 million people. This is a brute fact. Do you really wan't to turn your back on China? Chaz, the Cold War is over. It's time we extract ourselves from the fever swamp of xenophobia and move forward. <<< Actually I am very well informed on China, live in a town that is 40% Chinese (City of San Francisco), and speak some Chinese. I have made several trips to the region and I do not believe I am xenophobic about the Chinese. However, I sympathize with the Chinese people far too much to sell them out like the money grabbing cowards in the new congressional Republican right. Our small businesses and both the American and Chinese populations are being sold down the river by these unprincipled charlatans. In this sense I am a liberal, because American liberals, ironically, seem to be the only political people in the country who seem to remember what a communist is and why you have to fight them. Through the looking glass, in a way, but of course the principle is democracy for the little guy, not just the rich. Originally, this was a conservative principle. I think what you know about China is best revealed by the huge amount you are off on the population of China, which is about 30 years out of date. >>> RE: "...you would have to say that the people you call liberals are actually acting as traditional conservatives." I assume you are referring to yourself as one of those who is "acting as a traditional conservative." Then do I infer correctly that you and the "Order of the Ilk" are in fact "traditional conservatives"? This needs clarification.<<< Two bad assumptions don't add up to one good one, sorry to say. Let me put it this way: I believe in spreading democracy even when some weasel thinks he can make money doing business with despots. I believe in the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. I believe that having the courage of your convictions starts with being willing to give up money as a minimum standard. And of course you need in some cases to be willing to risk more. Otherwise you don't have any principles, however you may delude yourself. Of course you are not really interested in any of this. All you really wanted was another ad hominem cheap shot, and I got in the way. I think the reason you guys keep complaining about the people and the writing here instead of focusing on issues is that you have lost over and over on the merits. Your position is really indefensible. Naturally you attack personalities next. Chaz
