You know, one of the biggest losses to this country is all the small, independent newspapers all around the country. Instead, we've seen massive consolidation to about 5 all-encompassing media empires that control 99% of the news we see and hear. Then these media empires dropped journalistic integrity to become entertainment companies focused on profits and a 24/7 entertainment cycle. It's really destroyed anything worthwhile and with it, we have lost something that I think was integral to a properly functioning Democracy. It's sad, but that's technology for you. I think the modern day replacement for those small newspapers are all the blogs and online presences. But censorship has become a major problem, as well as fake news and propaganda. So even these alternatives are no longer conducive to a properly functioning Democracy. In short, we have a real problem and I see no real solution.
