Your ancestors were smoking the good-stuff around those desert camp fires. The fire side tales they invented grew bigger in the telling over thousands of years. After your scribes learned to write the stories were fixed and could not evolve further, hence the need to invent more fables, e.g. global warming. God heard you crying in the wilderness, and sent his only begotten son to fulfil your story, which apparently wasn’t good enough for you.
