re: Power consumption

Aside from the expense of the camera itself, the main bugaboo about digital cameras is that they drain batteries very quickly all by themselves. In fact, the latest review of a new digital camera I read,( Lord help me, I'll find that link somewhere..) laments the fact that the batteries lasted only about 20 minutes. Vapor! and its 3.3 av. volts (this info according to the Iomega web page and purposely no reference to how many amps, we'll see how much it REALLY drains) will only add to this misery. All costs saved from using and developing film rear their ugly head again when you have to buy battery packs by the dozens just to photograph a family vacation.

Allen - I think you are completely right. I believe that the only negative cost impact of Clik! will be that the cost of a megapixel digital camera will come down a bit more slowly than it would without the added drive. However, it will be the critical value-added component that will make the camera dramatically more appealing to consumers, which may lead to greater sales growth which may actually lead to faster cost reductions.
BTW, I may be mistaken, but I thought I read a previous post from Rocky in which he criticized the audio quality of CD's vs. vinyl. Must be why consumers have never taken to spending $15 for a product that has inferior sound to a $6 LP.
