I had always been of the opinion that the efficacy of ones macro views would only be verified over the course of time ... be it ... 8, 10, 20 year, and 7, 4, 2, years, and ...

am unsure why any true overarching macro reckoning has 'best use by date'.

in any case, you must be happy to know, that Hong Kong had little to fear about Beijing 2011 through end 2018, and the industrial lofts I lead and together with others to buy, has gone up 8-10X since our buying frenzy circa 2007 - 2010. Would say the exercise of astute agility has been fairly rewarded.

Hello Hawkmoon, friendly and sincerely, a reminder, so as to better reckon way forward for all...

<< The US trade deficit and capital surplus is OK up to a point (much like the first three drinks at Le Femme Nu), and then there is hell to pay for, by everybody in and outside of the country, except those that loaded up on contra-cycle assets.
I am looking for that contra-cycle trade and having a hard time, really wanting to know what the great Soros is doing with his stash. Even as I am aware of the enormous overhang of Central Bank and private hoard of gold that is out there, I gravitate towards it, adding ever so little with each passing month. One thing can be said of gold – there is always liquidity for it. In the meantime am sinking under the weight of heavily appreciated platinum and are concerned about the declining auto sales and the increased mining output. Not a lot of places to run to when the entire arena becomes a frenzied killing place.>>

Some inflection way-points coming up, it isn time, as more than 20 years has passed since my post cited above, to which you had termed ‘scary’ siliconinvestor.com

This below chart says it all, as long as one appreciates the lines connecting the dots

The explanations are here Message 32739067 , my version. There may be other versions, and I would be glad if my version is wrong.
