"I think the Web has great potential as a genuine research tool, but we ain't there yet. Not by a longshot."

Relative to the depth and intent of one's inquiry.

Janice,

Here! Here! And Bravo!

As with any medium, one must sift through the chaff. It is also necessary to have some semblance of factual foundation in order to accept and/or discard sources for further study. When researching, it is easy to make assumptions and come to unfounded conclusions, thinking all questions have been answered when, in fact, more questions have been put on the study table.

Notable and worth repeating is that too much "information" "comes from extremely biased sources, and these sources don't always openly declare their bias."

Holly

Janice, Here are 2 bookmarks of mine ama-assn.org and nih.gov ,just for starters, to show the kind of good information that is available on the web now. If you follow the links, there is an almost inexhaustible amount of good quality information available. You have to have a subscription to view most of the journals, but you can find most of what you want for free from reliable sources. I think that we are there now!

All of us are biased in our opinions. We have all have gathered information throughout our lives, and have chosen that which we want to believe, and what we want to reject. None of us has it all right, because sometimes there is no correct answer, only opinion. I can't understand why you keep attacking Christine's beliefs, saying that she is forcing them on others, and don't say that about others that are stating their beliefs. I think that she has done a great job of keeping an open forum here. Let's keep it going without the personal attacks.
