Yes, Holly, you're right that you were saying it is better for a child to live in a house with parents who smoke rather than be put in foster care, and actually that was my understanding of your position as well when I wrote the post, but I neglected to make something negative, grammatically speaking, when it should have been. In fact if you read the entire post again, disregarding that confusion, you would see that I don't really debate that position either for the most part. Foster care is generally horrible.

I still stand on my point in the body of the post, however--why are some parents who smoke so thoughtless and inconsiderate, and in many cases oblivious to children's smoke-worsened medical problems--that they cannot simply smoke outside?
