hi kemble, these opinions are not from any documented reading material..i read everything i can get my hands on and watch cnbc and money line. from all these sources i am very confident in being long on dell..there is no way dell will dissappoint with their earnings, michael dell is brilliant and people are starting to realize what we have known for a long time..dell rules!!! is that too emotional..sorry, but it is fun to have this stock... sue

Kemble:
I take a simpified approach to Dell earnings estimates,The
official estimate this qtr is $.76, which Dell almost always
beats. The surprise (which they try to beat) was 6 % last qtr,
( on the low side of "usual"). And they came very close to the whisper no. which was not clearly defined.
The difficulty in estimating earnings arises from our
lack of data on company expenditures, the lease or purchase
of the new 570 acre factory site, the payments for the 5 new
office buildings (327,000 sq.ft.) which are supposed to be completed early or mid 1998, and especially the furnishing and manning of those buildings.( Do they all get Dell computers(GGGGG)
Expenditures for the quarter depend upon whether they buy or lease the land, buy or lease the furniture, pay up front on a contract,
expand the new advertising budget.
There is no way I could get those figures so have to leave it
up to Mikie's desire to show steady progress and have good earnings
reports.
My earnings guess would be about $0.82, which in conjunction
with outstanding growth should be enough to keep the stock
moving up.
And I hope there are 2000 more posts between now and Feb so
people forget I said this)
