Speculation on the big announcement: If SUNW and a JAVA card partner sign up a state govenment to install JAVA Smartcard driver's license. All the driver's history and or restrictions could be on the card. INTC and SUNW announce that INTC will integrate JAVA into it's IC designs. JAVA running at the CPU level could dramatically increase one of the major current drawbacks to JAVA, SPEED! COMS and SUNW annouce that they will team together on Cable set-top boxes and COMS will integrate JAVA into it's future products, PalmPC, Modems, etc. VISA/Mastercard announce SUNW Java cards will replace existing credit cards by the year 2000. anyone else care to speculate? OFF TOPIC, I think the world is improving. Yes there are tragic situations all over the globe. Yes there are attrocities occuring that should receive greater attention and yes our media tends to ignore them. But I think there are substantial improvements being made throughout the world. For every situation that brings tears of shame to our eyes there are at least as many positive situations that go unnoticed or unreported. All of these issues should be dealt with by each individual according to their own beliefs. Whether by charity, volunteer work, community activism, etc...each of us has our own way(s) to help others. Those who are selfish and fail to help others will have to answer for their actions, IMO.
