I heard that Texaco is going to spend 500,000,000 dollars in 98 on coal bed methane development in China, and there was an article in our paper yesterday entitled "Natural Gas is Like a Breath of Fresh Air for Cairo". In other words, coal bed methane is the fuel of the immediate future. They can liquify it and run cars on the product. I have often thought that secretly somewhere in the background of things the guys at BPI and the guys at SIR/ERB were talking about a merger of these two assets...it is just another Sherlock Holme's logical deduction for these two in similar businesses with similar sized fields with offices in the same town..how could they not talk? However, I have never been able to even get a hint whether I am right or wrong, and now it no longer even matters because BPI is probably going to succeed and if ERB/SIR hit on this drill program, they will succeed and there would be no need to put them together. I think it is good news for this play if BPI succeeds as it will add to the confidence that these plays result in economic projects.
